Five players Manchester United could sign on cheap deals in January transfer window

Manchester United have spent a considerable amount of money this summer in bringing in much-needed additions to the squad after a dismal 2021/22 campaign.

In Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Antony, they have acquired players capable enough to make immediate impacts and once again challenge for an all-important Champions League spot.

But after spending more than £200 million this summer, will United do the same next year? If that isn't to be the case, they may look to shop in the bargain window — and there are some quality options on offer. Here are five players who United could sign in January on a cut-price deal or next summer for free.

Tielemans is a player who Leicester have been unable to tie down to a long-term deal as the talented Belgian may look to take a leap in his career away from the club.

He is someone that was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford towards the end of last season, but the United links with him had only come around once it looked like they were unable to sign long-term target Frenkie de Jong.

Tielemans is a box-to-box midfielder with an eye for a pass and has impressed for Leicester since his arrival in 2019.

Another player who was linked with United this summer, Real Madrid attacker Asensio looks set to play out his last year at the Spanish club. He played a solid role in their La Liga and Champions League triumphs last season, scoring 12 goals and grabbing two assists in all competitions.
