Manchester United make decision regarding James Garner that will affect Nottingham Forest

The midfielder has spent the campaign on loan from Manchester United, who have decided to give Garner a chance in the first-team going into pre-season.

According to Teamtalk, the 21-year old has impressed those in charge at Old Trafford and he has earned a chance to show what he can do in the senior United side.

Forest had enquired about Garner returning to the club for next season, but the Red Devils have knocked back any suggestions of another stint at the City Ground.

Man United are currently without a manager, but the youth coaches at the club are said to be pushing for the midfielder to be given a proper chance under whoever comes in to take over the side.

The youngster has been an integral part of Steve Cooper’s side this campaign, featuring 33 times in the Championship so far.

Garner has proven capable of handling the many obstacles that come with playing in midfield at a high level, and he has even contributed with four goals and four assists in this campaign.

The Reds are currently 5th in the Championship table having won their last four games in a row.

Up next for Cooper’s side is the visit of Birmingham City on April 9.

Man United’s options in midfield have been scarce for some time so it makes sense to look towards the youth setup to gain some advantage.

Garner has performed very well while on loan with Forest which makes him the most obvious youth candidate to be given a chance next season.

This will be a blow to Forest as they will be without one of their key players for next season.

Regardless of whatever division they compete in next season, this area of the pitch has now become an important one to upgrade this summer.
