Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood mocked by Sevilla after Copa del Rey exit

Sevilla have taken to social media to troll Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood following Getafe's defeat in the Copa del Rey.

Sevilla travelled to Getafe on Tuesday night, with goals from Sergio Ramos and a brace from Isaac Romero Bernal seeing them secure a 3-1 win.

Greenwood played the full 90 minutes of the round of 16 tie but couldn’t help his team overcome their opponents, despite Sevilla's struggles this season. The 22-year-old has impressed with his performances for Getafe since joining on loan in the summer and was awarded the club’s Player of the Month award for December.

Following the win, Sevilla’s English X account posted a message that read: "Sergio Ramos emptying his back pocket after the game tonight," accompanied by images of some keys, a wallet, a mobile phone and a picture of Greenwood.

The game came exactly a month on from Getafe's 3-0 away win over Sevilla in La Liga, when Greenwood scored his side’s third goal of the game from the penalty spot.

The forward's temporary move to Getafe was completed following an internal investigation by United after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control against him in February 2023. Greenwood denied the allegations.

He has been a regular for his loan club since securing the move, scoring five times in 18 appearances while providing a further four assists. Greenwood and Getafe will return to action on Sunday when they take on Osasuna in La Liga.
