Manchester United-linked Cody Gakpo could join rivals as 'personal terms agreed' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United were linked with Cody Gakpo in the summer, but it's now reported that Leeds United look to have agreed personal terms with the winger.

According to the Mirror, Leeds have reached an agreement with Gakpo over personal terms and are now holding discussions with PSV Eindhoven to settle on a price-tag for the 23-year-old. It comes as a bitter blow for Erik ten Hag, who was keen on bringing the Dutch forward to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.

United's pursuit of Gakpo came to an end due to the hefty fee that Ajax were demanding over Antony. The Reds ended up spending £225million on six new signings before the September 1 deadline, as the budget failed to stretch far enough to sanction a move for Gakpo as well.

The report does state that Ten Hag still wants to bring Gakpo to United, but a heavy summer of spending will likely rule out a January move for the winger, giving Leeds an opportunity to pip the Reds to his signature.

Elsewhere, Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Sun) report that United have sent scouts to watch Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The 23-year-old midfielder has caught the eye recently with a series of impressive performances in Serie A. Frattesi has been at Sassuolo for five years since his departure from Roma, and now the Italian could be set to move to the Premier League.

Having scored two goals in his nine league appearances, it is thought that United will face competition from Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton, who are all looking to tempt Frattesi away from Italy, should they want to bolster their midfield with the 5ft 8in playmaker.
