Manchester United 'face competition' for Marc Guehi and more transfer rumours

Manchester United will face competition if they want to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi next year.

That is according to a report by The Sun, which claims Arsenal are now in the 'chase' to sign the England defender. Guehi, 23, is one of the most coveted centre-backs in the Premier League and has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent weeks.

United intend to strengthen their central defensive options in 2024 and Guehi has been touted as a potential candidate to bolster Erik ten Hag's defensive pool in recent weeks. The England ace has gone from strength to strength since joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021.

Guehi is in a position where he is now challenging for a starting berth for England ahead of next summer's European Championship. He stepped off the bench in the Three Lions' 3-1 win over Italy earlier this month.

According to the report, a 'bidding war' for the defender will not commence until next year and Palace will 'demand a huge fee' for his signature. It is claimed Manchester City, meanwhile, could attempt to lure him from Selhurst Park as soon as January.

Guehi has made a total of 93 appearances for Palace, chipping in with five goals. He has made 11 appearances this term.

Meanwhile, United are said to be 'monitoring' Club America centre-back Sebastian Caceres. That is according to a report by 90min, which claims Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Uruguay international.

The 24-year-old has been making a name for himself in recent months, particularly on the international stage. He has established himself as a key fixture in manager Marcelo Bielsa's plans.
