Manchester United 'keeping tabs' on Chelsea's Mateo Kovacic and other transfer gossip

Manchester United are rumoured to be 'keeping tabs' on the potential of signing Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

United are poised to be active this summer in the transfer market at Erik ten Hag prepares for his second campaign in charge of the Old Trafford club. It will be focused on improving the options at his disposal in a bid to close the gap to the top of the table.

Central midfield is an area United could well add further strength in depth to. United currently have Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Fred and Christian Eriksen as options in that part of the pitch.

And according to Football Insider, United could raid Chelsea for one of their experienced players. The report claims the Old Trafford club are 'keeping tabs' on Croatia international Kovacic.

The 29-year-old will enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge this summer. Should he not sign a new deal, as anticipated, this summer presents the best opportunity for Chelsea to get the best fee for the former Real Madrid man, with the Stamford Bridge side expected to sell several players for financial reasons.

Elsewhere, according to La Repubblica [via Daily Express], United are 'ready' to pay the release clause for defender Kim Min-Jae of Napoli. The 26-year-old replaced Kalidou Koulibaly last summer after his move to Chelsea.

The release clause for the Napoli defender is reported to be £52million. Kim has been part of the Napoli squad which has recently sealed the Serie A title.
