Manchester United icon Juan Mata lands exciting new job as huge announcement made

Juan Mata will work as a pundit for BBC Sport when Spain face England in the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday.

Mata joined Manchester United for a then-club-record fee of £37.1million in January 2014 from Chelsea. The Spaniard went on to make 285 appearances for United where he scored 51 goals and provided 43 appearances before leaving to join Galatasaray in September 2022.

The attacking midfielder last played for Japanese top-tier side Vissel Kobe, spending just four months in Japan before leaving in January 2024. And the 36-year-old now has a new job as a pundit for the BBC in Berlin this weekend, working alongside Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and former United teammate Rio Ferdinand.

He will now be hoping his nation can win a record fourth European Championship title when Spain take on Gareth Southgate's England at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Spain have won all six matches they have played so far in this summer's tournament in Germany, a competition record.

Mata was recently in the United States, wearing United attire and promoting the Reds' pre-season fixture against Real Betis on July 31 at the Snapdragon Stadium. And that's when he sat down with MUTV to discuss what might come next for him in the next few months.

"It's been great, to be honest," he said. "First
