Manchester United icon Denis Law laid to rest as city pays its respects to legendary figure

The funeral of Manchester United great Denis Law took place at Manchester Cathedral on Tuesday.

Law died last month at the age of 84. He made 404 appearances during his United career, scoring 237 goals, establishing himself as one of the club's greatest ever players.

His funeral was attended by a series of household names, including former United manager and close friend Sir Alex Ferguson. Current United head coach Ruben Amorim attended alongside captain Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Tom Heaton.

A series of former United players also paid the respects to Law at the cathedral, such as Peter Schmeichel, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Bryan Robson, Brian Kidd, Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Before arriving at the cathedral shortly before 2pm, Law was taken to Old Trafford one last time. United supporters gathered to pay their respects, likewise members of the club's academy.
