Manchester United have unexpectedly discovered a new undroppable player this season
Most Manchester United fans didn't expect much from Noussair Mazraoui when he signed.
After all, he was signed for just €15million (£12.8m) with a possible €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons and why would Bayern Munich allow a great player to leave for such a small transfer fee?
However, next week will mark four months since Mazraoui arrived and the defender has made such a strong impression in that period, to the extent that he is currently undroppable.
With Luke Shaw unavailable due to injury, Mazraoui started by default at the beginning of the campaign, but if there is a choice to be made between the Morrocan international and Diogo Dalot in the coming weeks by Ruben Amorim, the scales have tipped in Mazraoui's favour.

That is a huge compliment to Mazraoui and a slight on Dalot, who has struggled to give the best account of himself after starting 2024/25 by playing on the left side of the defence.
Mazraoui, though, has been excellent and was the standout performer for United in their draw against Chelsea at the weekend. He pressed aggressively, covered a ton of ground up and down the left channel and made important interceptions and blocks when Chelsea asked questions.
It might have been his best performance since signing from Bayern and he has continued to go from strength to strength since making a confident debut on the opening day of the season against Fulham.
