Manchester United have shown Todd Boehly how to navigate Chelsea crisis with clear blueprint

When you're a big club, you are only four bad results away from a crisis. That has been evident across the Premier League's 'big six' this season.

Each of the division's big boys have had their wobbles this season. Manchester City trailed Arsenal by eight points at one stage; the Gunners are having their tough period now and Tottenham Hotspur are, well, Spursy personified at the moment.

Liverpool have fallen away from the standards they have set in the last four seasons and look set to miss out on Champions League football. Manchester United have enjoyed a productive campaign under Erik ten Hag but have had their moments too, not least a 7-0 drubbing at Anfield.

But, without a doubt, the worst of the lot have been Chelsea. It has been a disastrous year for the blue half of London. A season that began with Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel and will end with the ridiculed Frank Lampard.

Lampard's arrival at Stamford Bridge has done very little to lift the mood. They have lost all five matches since he came in and sit 12th in the league table, level on points with Bournemouth and one behind Crystal Palace.

As far as a crisis goes, Chelsea have raised the bar. They are still yet to confirm the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino and whilst that drags on, the pessimism in Chelsea's fan base will fear that disaster has struck.
