Manchester United have four players in contention for the Premier League Team of the Season

The month of May marks the beginning of the final sprint to the finish line and the start of awards season.

Manchester United, following a bleak 2021/22 campaign, are on course to finish inside the top-four this season and could take another giant stride towards wrapping up that goal when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion this evening. A win would take them onto 66 points and above third-placed Newcastle United.

Considering the Reds, this time last year, were already aware that they would not be competing in the Champions League this season, it has been a staggering turnaround in next to no time, even though there is still plenty more work to be done to get them back to where they want to be. Under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, however, they are heading in the right direction.

While there is no denying the impact that Ten Hag has had in his debut season at Old Trafford, he has, of course, been helped by his intake of new arrivals and several individuals that we already at the club raising their game. United, despite experiencing one or two bumps in the road, have produced a series of performances this season that have featured both free-flowing, attacking football and stern defensive mettle.

That means several members of Ten Hag's squad ought to be in the running to make the official 2022/23 Premier League Team of the Season. It is an XI, of course, that divides opinions among supporters up and down the country every single year, often resulting in online arguments and sometimes childish comments.
