Manchester United have been told how much Randal Kolo Muani transfer will cost them

Manchester United's pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani may have already suffered a setback after one of the Bundesliga club's chiefs revealed how much it would cost to buy the forward.

MEN Sport reported on Wednesday that both Muani and Atalanta forward Rasmus Højlund are players of interest for United as they aim to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and, most likely, Wout Weghorst in the summer. The two young strikers have been added to a shortlist of players which Erik ten Hag is an admirer of, including Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane, Benfica's Goncalo Ramos and Ajax's Mohammed Kudus.

Currently, United's first-choice option in the summer market is Kane but the Reds see complications arising in any deal for the forward due to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy's historical reluctance to allow England's all-time record goalscorer to leave. Unfortunately for United, these issues could be mirrored in their pursuit of Muani.

The 24-year-old has hit the ground running in the Bundesliga following his move to Frankfurt. So far, the Frenchman has scored 16 goals and grabbed 14 assists in just 35 appearances.

Such form has not gone unnoticed. Muani was called up to France's Qatar World Cup squad last winter and most recently started for Didier Deschamps' side in their Euro 2024 qualifier victories against the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland.

Muani's current contract in Germany runs until 2027 which should put Frankfurt in a powerful position, as was confirmed by their head of football Timmo Hardung.
