Manchester United goalkeeper target produces Cruyff turn on his own goal-line

Manchester United are tracking highly-rated Queen's Park goalkeeper Callan McKenna.

The Manchester Evening News understands that the 17-year-old shot-stopper is the subject of ongoing talks. Though discussions are ongoing, it is understood that nothing has yet been agreed between the two clubs.

The Reds, who progressed to the FA Cup fourth round on Monday evening, beating Wigan Athletic 2-0, are always hungry to add fresh talent to their academy ranks. It is a precedent that the club has set in recent years.

Despite only being 17, McKenna has made nine first-team appearances for Queen's Park this term, keeping two clean sheets. Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with his signature.

Though McKenna is young and fairly inexperienced, he has displayed enough confidence in his already short career to demonstrate that he is willing to take a risk in possession. A video of him in action was uploaded to social media during the summer, at which point he was only 16.

Receiving a pass under pressure from one of his defenders in front of him, Mckenna, bravely, decided to perform a Cruyff turn on his own goal-line. It was a heart-in-mouth moment, but it was one that demonstrated the goalkeeper's ability to be confident with the ball at his feet.

McKenna, who signed his first professional deal with Queen's Park in January last year, is already going through gears in the Scotland youth setup, already earning caps at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level. He is, as a result, already being tipped to become the first-team's first-choice goalkeeper in the years ahead.
