Manchester United given green light over Roony Bardghji transfer as club legend makes bold claim

Rio Ferdinand has given his seal of approval for Manchester United to sign FC Copenhagen wonderkid Roony Bardghji.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford ever since he scored against United in the Champions League earlier this season. Bardghji scored the winning goal for Copenhagen in the 4-3 victory over United in November.

Since then, rumours have been circulating about Bardghji's future with Copenhagen. As well as United, Tottenham Hotspur are also reportedly interested in signing the teenager who has become one of the brightest prospects in European football.

Tuesday night saw Copenhagen in action against Manchester City in the Champions League. Bardghji was an unused substitute as City claimed a 3-1 win in the last-16 first leg at the Parken Stadium.

Ferdinand worked as a pundit for TNT Sports' coverage of the game in Denmark. The United legend explained why he's been impressed by what he's seen from Bardghji when he's watched him this season.

“He’s got a name already, he seems accustomed to that. He doesn’t seem fazed at all,” Ferdinand told TNT Sports.

“Whenever I’ve seen him, he comes on, he looks like he should be there. He wants to be there; he’s got the ability. I think he’s going to be a name we’re going to hear more about.

“This is the type of night where he will want to announce himself even further than he has already.”

Ferdinand also reflected on Bardghji's goal and performance against United earlier this season, with the teenager sharing a first name with Old Trafford legend Wayne Rooney.
