Manchester United give new Luke Shaw update, team news and drop Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana hint

Luke Shaw is set to go more than a year without starting a match for Manchester United.

Shaw has been sidelined since December 4 with a hamstring injury, having last started for the club away to Luton Town on February 18.

United head coach Ruben Amorim said last week Shaw was due to be back within two weeks but he clarified on Thursday night that the timeframe related to Shaw's return to training.

"No, he’s going to be fit to train with the team," Amorim said. "And then we have to start doing small minutes. We don’t have a lot of time to train, we have to put in some exercises in ten minutes, then he has to make extra work to improve his fitness.

"So I don’t know. It’s two weeks to start training and to start thinking about putting him in a few minutes."

Centre backs Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro both came off in the 2-1 Europa League win against Rangers on Thursday night. Both will be assessed before United travel to London for their fixture against Fulham on Sunday night.

"Leny has a pain, also Mattha, I think was a bruise, a touch," Amorim added. "Leny was a little bit tired, he’s playing more in this moment so we have to be really careful. We’ll see. I don’t know."

Amorim indicated Andre Onana would be recalled despite Altay Bayindir's impressive performance against Rangers. Bayindir made his first European start for United four days after Onana was culpable for two of Brighton's goals in their 3-1 victory at Old Trafford.

Bayindir is yet to play for United in the Premier League and Onana has committed several high-profile errors since Amorim took over in November. The United coach admitted he considered the ramifications of taking Onana out of the team days after his mistake against Brighton.
