Manchester United get Scott McTominay injury boost ahead of Brighton fixture

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has shared a positive update on his recovery from injury by claiming he will be returning to the pitch soon.

The 26-year-old Scotland international has missed the last six games for United in all competitions. He picked up the problem prior to United's Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla last month.

He missed both legs of the tie as United crashed out of Europe at the hands of the Spanish side. He has also missed recent Premier League clashes with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

McTominay was absent for the FA Cup semi-final win at Wembley on penalties over Brighton. United take on the same opponents in the Premier League on Thursday evening at the Amex Stadium and the midfielder last featured for Erik ten Hag's side in the top-flight win over Everton.

Prior to that encounter, McTominay gave an encouraging update on his return to fitness. Taking to his Instagram account, the midfielder posted a picture of a sweat-drenched shirt with his squad number on it.

He posted a 'soon' emoji with the training gear and might be in with a shout of being back in the squad for Thursday's trip to the Amex Stadium to take on the Seagulls. United know they will leap back up to third with victory on the south coast.
