Manchester United get fitness boost ahead of Liverpool game as training squad confirmed

Marcus Rashford was pictured in good spirits with his Manchester United teammates in training ahead of a crucial trip to Liverpool this weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s side travel to Anfield for a pivotal clash which may have long-term consequences, either positively or negatively, on the manager’s future. Supporters - and players - are still battle-scarred from the humiliating 7-0 drubbing suffered in March.

They are without captain Bruno Fernandes, who was also spotted in training, but can expect Rashford available for selection. The 26-year-old missed the defeat to Bayern Munich through illness but appears fit and well if snaps from Carrington are anything to go by.

Luke Shaw was also seen being put through his paces, with United fans fearing the worst against Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Ten Hag was forced to replace the left-back at half-time - shortly after Harry Maguire hobbled off with a groin problem.

Speaking ahead of the Liverpool test, the Dutchman issued an injury update on all three internationals. It was also noted that Anthony Martial, another struggling with illness, will not feature versus the Reds.

"Harry will not be available for the coming games but we don't think it's long-term,” Ten Hag told reporters. “Luke Shaw trained this morning, so we think he's available for Sunday. Marcus Rashford will be back, Martial not."

Raphael Varane appears to have come through the Bayern game unscathed as he was pictured alongside Sofyan Amrabat. The Frenchman has struggled with injury problems in recent years and started in midweek for the first time since the 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen.
