Manchester United forced to take coach home from Fulham after flight was cancelled

Manchester United had to be driven back to Manchester after their Premier League win against Fulham.

United had planned to fly back from London but discovered early on Sunday that their flight had been cancelled due to an issue with the airline.

The majority of the United players and staff had parked at Manchester Airport in anticipation of flying home and the squad instead took a 200-mile journey back to the north west.

United arrived back in Manchester at 1.30am after a three-and-a-half-hour journey, having kicked off at Craven Cottage at 7pm. Head coach Ruben Amorim finished his press conference at roughly 9.40pm before he boarded the team coach.

Last season, United had to take the coach for their away fixture at Newcastle United after inclement weather forced the cancellation of their flight.

United fly to Bucharest on Wednesday for their final Europa League league match against FCSB. The players are training today, have Tuesday off and will train on Wednesday morning before the three-hour flight to Romania.

The team are scheduled to stay overnight in the Romanian capital and train in Bucharest on Friday to prepare for the Premier League visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday.
