Manchester United fans split on news that Paul Pogba has likely played his last game for the club

Ralf Rangnick has announced in his press conference ahead of Manchester United's crucial fixture with Arsenal on Saturday that Paul Pogba is out for the rest of the season through injury. Given that the French midfielder's contract expires in the summer and there has been no movement on a new deal, it seems likely that he has now played his last game for the club.

Rangnick said: "It is very unlikely that he will play until the end of the season again. The doctor told me that it will take four weeks minimum for him to recover and since the last game is at the end of May I don't think it's very likely he will play again."

The midfielder went down early in United's 4-0 loss and had to be substituted for Jesse Lingard, with the injury rendering him unable to play in the club's last five fixtures. Pogba had already missed 14 games this season after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty with France.

The relationship between Pogba and the United fanbase has soured quickly over the past few weeks, with the midfielder being booed and jeered off the field when he was substituted during United's 3-2 win against Norwich. The French midfielder had not had a bad game given that he was playing out of position as the defensive midfielder, but it seemed that the crowd had reached boiling point.

Since Pogba's return to the club, he has only ever met the consistent expectations that the fans had for him in his debut season. The club must take some blame, as they never seemed to truly understand how to 'unlock' the midfielder, but in terms of his relationship with the fans, his agent Mino Raiola has not helped, constantly
