Manchester United fans fear 'bottling' appointment as Erik ten Hag timeline emerges

Manchester United supporters have been reacting to the news that no announcement on Erik ten Hag will be made before Ajax’s KNVB Cup final against PSV on April 17.

The 52-year-old is edging closer to agreeing a deal at Old Trafford, with his current club expecting him to leave for England at the end of the season. No estimated date has been given as to when United fans can expect any ten Hag contract news beyond April 17, but reports are claiming that it will definitely not come this week.

The Athletic says that the Dutchman wants clarity over what he has authority over in the terms of his contract, should he decide to become the new Red Devils boss. There is a release clause in ten Hag’s current Ajax deal but it’s possible this may not come into play.

However, United fans will have to wait a little while longer before there are any advancements on this, with the Old Trafford hierarchy keen to respect Ajax’s wishes leading up to a big final. Some supporters have reacted to the news on Twitter with a real sense of nervousness, in fear that they may lose grip of their favourite candidate for the job…

@Chrsto_R: Just sign it already.

@Ladelle_Jeanea: No sleep for the next six days then.

However, others were mildly grateful
