Manchester United fans' favourite players are about to be available again

Casemiro has been hovering around the Manchester United dressing room and the club have released an interview with Lisandro Martinez. Both players are finally close to a return.

The South Americans were outstanding last season and key in winning a trophy and securing a top-four finish, but they have been unavailable for the last few months due to injury.

Casemiro has been out with a hamstring injury sustained at the start of November, while Martinez has been a longer-term absentee after his metatarsal injury required further surgery.

There have been scarce injury updates on the pair during their recoveries but January has been earmarked for their return, which can only be a huge boost for a struggling side meandering in the Premier League.

In an interview with club media last week, Martinez discussed his extended period on the sidelines: "I'm really good. Really good, honestly. My rehab is going amazing and the way that I want, feeling strong.

"It's strange for me because I love to be on the pitch fighting with the team, fighting with our fans, but we have to accept this part [watching while injured], support the team, helping whenever they need me."

Martinez admitted his rehabilitation has been mentally challenging and the team have been challenged in his absence, with multiple centre-back pairings having been experimented with in his absence.

Willy Kambwala made his senior debut alongside Jonny Evans against West Ham last month and that was, remarkably, the 10th different centre-back pairing used by Erik ten Hag this season.
