Manchester United fans cannot believe what Bruno Fernandes did to Cristiano Ronaldo vs Watford
The first-half of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon all looked very familiar.
Looking to register a third successive league win, United created a whole host of chances during the opening 45 minutes but were unable to stick one of them past Hornets goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Bruno Fernandes, Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo all went close but failed to hit the target with their respective opportunities.
However, United ought to have made the most of their early dominance with just 12 minutes on the clock.
Anthony Elanga slipped Fernandes in behind the Watford defence and the Portuguese star saw his effort kept out by Foster, who spread himself well to ensure his clean sheet remained intact.
Nevertheless, Fernandes could have squared the ball to Ronaldo who would then have had the simple task of tapping into an empty net.
The former Juventus man was unmarked inside the 18-yard box and would have found it harder to miss than score had his teammate picked him out.
Instead, Fernandes elected to go for goal and saw his effort saved by Foster.
Ronaldo couldn't believe that Fernandes had chosen to ignore the pass, putting his hands in the air, then over his face and then down on his knees as he bent over in disbelief.
It was a golden opportunity that Fernandes squandered and Ronaldo was visibly furious that his teammate chose to go for goal himself.
Like Ronaldo, a few United supporters were unimpressed.
As you can see from the messages displayed above, United's supporters could not believe that Fernandes chose to ignore Ronaldo as he looked to add to his own goal tally for the season.
