Manchester United fan group announces fresh anti-Glazer protest ahead of Brentford clash

A Manchester United supporters' group has announced fresh plans to protest against the Glazer family ahead of this afternoon's game against Brentford.

The 1958 confirmed plans on Friday evening to protest outside the Old Trafford ticket office at 2pm, one hour before kick-off. The group expressed their ongoing frustration at the Glazers' ownership and a lack of communication regarding the takeover process, which has been ongoing since last November.

United host Brentford looking to improve on their worst start to a season in 39 years, following Tuesday's 3-2 defeat against Galatasaray. They are bottom of their Champions League group and closer to the relegation zone that the top of the Premier League.

A statement released on Friday evening by the 1958 read: "PROTEST TOMORROW TICKET OFFICE AT 2PM. You’ve seen the lies released by the club and their mouthpieces. Marginalising and exploiting our match going fanbase. This is our club. We will fight for the right to support it Dignity and integrity needs to be restored."

As well as their poor form on the pitch, United have several problems off it. During Tuesday's game, more than 1,000 Galatasaray fans were able to purchase tickets in the home end. Part of the Sir Matt Busby banner was also torn down.

It has been 11 months since the Glazers announced plans to 'explore strategic alternatives' for investment, essentially paving the way for a takeover. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have long been considered the only serious candidates but there has been little in the way of developments for several months and no communication from the club.
