Manchester United 'eye Jordan Pickford swoop' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up what would be a surprise move for England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

David de Gea is United's current No.1, though fans and pundits have queried whether he will be able to adapt to Erik ten Hag's system. Dean Henderson had looked like challenging the Spaniard for a place in the starting XI but he is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

And a fresh report from The Telegraph suggests the club are assessing their options when it comes to renewing De Gea's deal. The 31-year-old's current contract expires at the end of the season - though United do hold the option of an additional year - and the report claims Everton shot-stopper Pickford is on a list of potential replacements should De Gea be allowed to depart.

Pickford, who joined Everton from Sunderland in 2017 for £30m, has just two years left on his current deal at Goodison Park.

Pickford not only has huge experience in the Premier League but has been No.1 for the Three Lions for a considerable amount of time and is expected to be first choice at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly set to challenge local rivals Manchester City in their pursuit of Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim the two sides will battle it out for the 23-year-old’s signature, while Tottenham are also said to be monitoring the Italy international's situation. Bastoni, who has 15 caps for Italy, is said to be valued at around the £50million mark by the Nerazzurri.
