Manchester United execute Ayden Heaven plan before Ruben Amorim hint
Manchester United got their first glimpse of January signing Ayden Heaven on Monday night as he started for the U21s in the Premier League 2 match against Fulham at Leigh Sports Village.
The 18-year-old defender completed a move to United from Arsenal late in the January transfer window. He was named in the United first team squad for the first time against Leicester City in the FA Cup, and was an unused substitute again on Sunday against Tottenham as Ruben Amorim was forced to select a youthful bench.
Heaven didn’t get a chance to get on the pitch, but made his debut in a United shirt on Monday night for the club’s development team. He was named in the starting line-up for the Premier League 2 clash against Fulham.
Heaven played the first half of the game, but was substituted at half time in a pre-planned move as he builds up his minutes for the club. The defender has been praised for his work on the ball in his time on the pitch.
He was shown a yellow card just before half time thanks to a crunching tackle on Inami Lanquedoc.
Following Heaven’s withdrawal, Fulham took the lead in the 55th minute through Callum James Osmand. That goal proved to be the difference between the two sides.
United’s development squad are back in action on Friday night when they travel to take on Chelsea in Premier League 2. If Heaven is included in that game or not should give a hint as to whether he will be in Amorim's first team squad for the Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park in Saturday’s early kick-off.
