Manchester United dealt Youri Tielemans blow after transfer snub and more rumours

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as the Belgian has Spain in his sights for his next destination.

The Reds are among a host of Premier League outfits such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old's future remains uncertain as he enters the final 12 months on his current deal at the King Power Stadium.

Real Madrid were said to be interested in a January move for Tielemans but ended their efforts after being quoted £50m for his signature. Belgian football reporter Sascha Tavolieri tweeted that the Foxes star has his sights set on La Liga.

His tweet roughly translated to: "While he should leave #LeicesterCity this summer, Youri #Tielemans would have told those around him his preference for a departure to Spain. The #RealMadrid , interested, could position itself concretely in the coming weeks… To be continued."

Meanwhile, the Daily Star have reported that United have joined the race to sign Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse. The set-piece specialist has reportedly been added to the list of targets as the Reds eye two central midfield additions this summer.

Although their pursuit of the 27-year-old won't be entirely plane sailing as cross-city rivals Manchester City are also said to be monitoring his situation at St Mary's as well as Spurs and Newcastle United. Ward-Prowse has enjoyed gradual progression up until recent months after becoming a regular call-up to Gareth Southgate's side.
