Does Pellistri start?

Facundo Pellistri completed 90 minutes for only the second time in his European career on his full United debut and for the first time in almost two years.

That alone makes a second successive start against Fulham doubtful, though Jadon Sancho’s inability to excel as a starter does not necessarily assure him of a recall if Antony fails to recover from illness.

Midfield reunion

Fred and Marcel Sabitzer have started next to each other three times and United have drawn one and won two, though their understanding was a work in progress, as Erik ten Hag acknowledged.

Sabitzer’s playing time has been reduced since Casemiro’s three-match suspension ended last month but he is about to be thrown back in with the Brazilian banned again, while there is the prospect of another three domestic starts next month.

Wout Weghorst had arguably his most anaemic outing in a United shirt in Betis and it is telling his two goals for the club have been rebounds with the goalkeeper prone.

The chances of a demotion are still remote. Anthony Martial has been involved in squad training for the best part of two weeks but he has not been named in any of the three matchday squads he was available for.

With one fixture left until the March internationals, Ten Hag is not expected to risk Martial until next month - unless he succumbs to another injury.
