Manchester United could have Bruno Fernandes 'advantage' in Darwin Nunez chase and other rumours

Manchester United are among the 'many clubs interested' in Benfica goal-getter Darwin Nunez, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has been instrumental for the Portuguese outfit this season, helping them to the Champions League quarter-final and becoming the top goalscorer in the Portuguese top-flight. His contributions during this campaign have seen him linked with a big-money move.

One of the clubs rumoured to be interested are United. It has become evident this season that their striking department has lacked options with interim manager Ralf Rangnick forced to field two starting XI's without a recognised forward.

Sport Witness have reported that United are monitoring the Uruguayan. Super-agent Jorge Mendes has been tasked with trying to engineer a move for the youngster, despite not being his agent. The same agent was responsible for bringing Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford back in January 2020.

Nunez has reportedly been valued at €130m (£110m). Arsenal and Liverpool remain interested with Manchester City also keeping tabs on the Benfica man as a back-up to Erling Haaland.

Meanwhile, United target Pau Torres will have a release clause in his contract until the end of this summer. The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that the Villarreal defender is back on United's wish list.

United's backline has come under fire for their performances this season and they are now looking to bolster the heart of the defence. Fabrizio Romano has reported that both United and City are interested, with Chelsea also sending scouts out to watch him. His release clause is said to be somewhere between €55m (£46.5m) and €60m
