Manchester United could have a new first-team regular vs Burnley

Elanga’s new role

Anthony Elanga looked distraught after blazing his penalty into the Stretford End but the teenager has been one of the positives for Manchester United recently and he should be given the chance to get that out of his system at Turf Moor.

The 19-year-old came off the bench for Marcus Rashford on Friday and it's fair to see the more experienced man didn't grab his chance in the FA Cup. He also found the Stretford End with a glorious chance from Jadon Sancho's cross.

Elanga has played with a freshness that has lifted United of late and it's perhaps no surprise that their best run of form under Ralf Rangnick has come with the winger in the side.

He has started three successive Premier League games, with United taking seven points from the matches with Aston Villa, Brentford and West Ham.

Elanga wasn't at his best against West Ham before the break but it will be interesting to see if he retains his place ahead of Rashford in East Lancashire. If he does it might signal a more permanent changing of the guard for this season.

Burnley home record

There is a cliched narrative that often comes with a trip to Turf Moor but it is one that is gradually being eroded. When they were first promoted Burnley could be physical and uncompromising, especially against a big six side at home, and it often got them unexpected results.

But clubs have become accustomed to that approach now. They know what to expect from the Clarets and the reality is this is a team that isn't as strong as it was two or three years ago.
