Manchester United confirm Tyrell Malacia signing in £13million deal from Feyenoord
Tyrell Malacia has become the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United.
The Premier League side have confirmed a deal to bring the Feyenoord star to Old Trafford in a deal worth £13million.
The 22-year-old has completed his medical and has signed a contract until June 2026, with the option to extend for a further year.
He is now set to join up with his new teammates ahead of United’s pre-season tour, with squad jetting out on Friday for friendly fixtures in Asia and Australia.
Malacia said: ‘It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United. This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new team-mates and a tremendous manager [Erik ten Hag] leading us.
‘I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities that he has and what he demands of his players.
‘Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. I’ll always be thankful to Feyenoord for all they have given to me and my family.
‘None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for them. Now I’m ready to focus on the future with United, and help my new club achieve success.’
Malacia comes into challenge Luke Shaw for a starting role at left-back with United ready to listen to offers for Alex Telles and Brandon Williams.
He was part of the Feyenoord side that reached the Europa Conference final last season, making 50 appearances in all competitions and contributing five assists.
