Manchester United confirm ticket offer for supporters after Chelsea allocation slashed

Manchester United have offered fans the opportunity to swap tickets for their trip to Chelsea for another match in an effort to resolve the issue around their reduced allocation for the match next week.

It was only announced last week that United's match against Chelsea would go ahead at 5:30pm on Saturday October 22, after they had already sold out their away allocation for the fixture.

United had sold 2,994 tickets, but the Metropolitan Police wanted to reduce that figure to just 1,500 over policing concerns for the encounter.

After an appeal, United have been handed 2,370 tickets for the match, but the club remain unhappy with the decision and believe the allocation cut is 'unjustified', particularly at such short notice.

United have now contacted all the supporters with match tickets for the original allocation with a couple of incentives should they choose to give up their seats for the match.

Fans who choose to return their seat for the game at Stamford Bridge can either get a full refund for the ticket they had originally purchased or can instead get a guaranteed ticket for an away game against either Aston Villa, Fulham, Wolves, or Arsenal.

In a letter to supporters released last week, United said: "In recent days we have been in consultation with the Premier League and Chelsea FC after the Metropolitan Police proposed a reduction in our away allocation due to policing concerns.

"The police initially sought to cut our allocation from 2,994 to 1,500. We have strongly opposed any reduction and worked with Chelsea to present a range of mitigations to the local Safety Advisory Group, which we believe could have allowed the game to
