Manchester United can take £20million advantage of Liverpool's main transfer worry

The arrival of Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford will complete the transfer triumvirate Erik ten Hag wanted.

With midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana already in the building, the Danish forward represents what seems the final necessity this summer ahead of the new Premier League season. More arrivals could follow, with another midfield body and a back-up goalkeeper on the list but that will largely depend on player departures.

United will be seeking to raise funds from sales in the final month of the window to offset some of their £165m spending spree. The Reds have already banked £15m for Anthony Elanga while Alex Telles has departed for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, to join up with former Old Trafford team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

And that avenue opens up a transfer opportunity for United. The Saudi clubs are spending big this summer, backed by near limitless resources and budgets. Chelsea have benefitted by offloading Kalidou Koulibaly and Édouard Mendy while Liverpool have seen Jordan Henderson and Fabinho move to west Asia.

That prompted Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp to call for the Saudi window to shut in line with the European one on September 1 as the Liverpool chief also bemoaned the posibilty that he could lose further players without being able to bring in replacements. Saudi Arabia clubs can sign players until September 20.
