Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick makes honest Liverpool transfer admission
Ralk Rangnick has admitted that Manchester United need to copy their bitter rivals Liverpool if the club wants to be successful again.
Rangnick took temporary charge at Old Trafford in November, following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and will move into a consultancy role at the end of this season.
And, when speaking about his future role away from the dugout, the interim United boss confessed that the club will be hoping to emulate Liverpool , as well as neighbours Manchester City , in the transfer market.
After 13 league games in charge, United currently sit fourth in the table, albeit with teams behind them having games in hand.
And Rangnick conceded : "It’s about having a clear transfer strategy and signing players who fit into that system - and that’s what both clubs (City and Liverpool) have been doing in the last five or six years.
“If I look at their transfer policy and their transfer success, they haven’t had many players who people would say that maybe that wasn’t the right signing. Both clubs have been pretty successful - and this is where Manchester United have to go again.”
The 63-year-old added that since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, the club had fallen from its previous heights.
Mixed messages from the four subsequent managers, prior to Rangnick’s arrival, have prevented United from creating the type of coherent vision that is evident at Liverpool.
“But professional football is pretty easy. You have to have an identity on how you want to play and how the supporters want to see us play,” Rangnick continued. “This has always been attractive, offensive, proactive football, entertaining football.
"But from there you must make sure the recruitment is right.
"You have to be quick
