Manchester United 'boosted' in Cody Gakpo interest and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have been boosted in their interest in PSV winger Cody Gakpo after learning he has an agreement in place to leave the Dutch club if their asking price is met.

United have kept tabs on the 23-year-old in recent months, with boss Erik ten Hag keen to recruit the attacker in the summer transfer window. However, the club ultimately opted to prioritise the signing of Antony from Ajax.

Gakpo enjoyed a stellar campaign last term — being named the Eredivisie Player of the Year. He has started this season in similar fashion and has already scored 10 goals in 13 appearances.

Speaking to Voetbal International, PSV director of football Marcel Brands admitted: "I can say with my hand on my heart that there has been no offer for Cody to which the management or the supervisory board have said: we must do this.

"We did state that if there were certain offers, we would have to sell. Not only from a financial point of view, but also because agreements were made with the Gakpo camp before my time."

Elsewhere, The Times claim that United — among several other clubs — are interested in signing Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri. He who became the Premier League’s youngest-ever player on Sunday afternoon at just 15.

The England Under-17 international made his debut for the Gunners in the 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday aged 15 years and 181 days, eclipsing Harvey Elliott’s record. Nwaneri isn't currently eligible for a scholarship until he turns 16 in March, meaning he has no long-term commitment to the London club.

It remains to be seen how his future plays out, but United will be hoping he is keen on a move away from the Emirates
