Manchester United 'begin attempt' to sign Harry Kane as Spurs 'name price tag' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly putting together a bid for Harry Kane with Tottenham holding out for £100m for the striker.

The England captain was left shell-shocked on Sunday when his side conceded five goals in 21 minutes against Newcastle. He managed to fire home a consolation in Spurs' 6-1 defeat but questions over his future intensify.

Erik ten Hag has circled Kane as his number one target this summer with United desperate for a clinical centre forward. The 29-year-old is yet to win a trophy in his career despite being the all-time top scorer for both club and country.

He watched United make their second final of the season on Sunday as the Reds secured a place in the FA Cup final with a penalty shoot-out win over Brighton. Ten Hag has already guided the club to the League Cup in his maiden season.

The Dutchman has reached the same number of finals at United as Kane has done with Spurs in the last five years but has a trophy to show for it. Many are deeming this summer to be the final juncture for a Kane transfer and the Telegraph states United have begun making plans for their move.

It claims United have contacted Spurs to discover how much they are pricing their talisman with a little over 12 months left on his deal. It’s thought that Daniel Levy could be open to allowing Kane to go with there little sign of a new deal being agreed.

He has set the bar at £100m for Premier League teams but at only £80m for interested parties abroad who are not in domestic conflict with Spurs.
