Manchester United 'attempted Dusan Vlahovic transfer in January' and other rumours

Manchester United were reportedly directly involved in negotiations to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in January.

Vlahovic moved from Fiorentina to Juve in January 2022 but his time in Turin has not been smooth. His 19 goals in 42 appearances have coincided with poor form for the Serie A giants.

Fast forward a year and United were on the lookout for a striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo who had left the club in November following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan. According to AS, a Premier League team which is believed to be the Reds tried to negotiate a deal for Vlahovic.

The talks broke down though with the report claiming that his price tag last month was between €120-130m. United were unwilling to spend big in January hence why Wout Weghorst was signed on a loan deal to fill the striker gap.

It is reported that Real Madrid will attempt to sign Vlahovic in the summer. Elsewhere, it is reported that Erik ten Hag is close to agreeing a contract extension for full-back Diogo Dalot.

Dalot quickly became Ten Hag's first-choice right-back upon his arrival in Manchester and his form appeared to be improving significantly. However, injuries post-World Cup have made the battle for that spot much more even with Aaron Wan-Bissaka performing well in the Portuguese defender's absence.

Despite this, Football Insider claim that United are confident of securing a new deal for Dalot even though Real Madrid are interested. The 23-year-old's current United contract is due to expire next summer.
