Manchester United were able to strike a deal with Chelsea for Sancho at the eleventh hour of the summer window and the winger moved to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan.

The loan included an obligation to buy and Chelsea will pay a minimum of £20million for Sancho, a fee which could increase to £25m depending on his performances in London this season.

It felt like agreeing an exit for Sancho could be United's best piece of business of the entire window, and this season has shown that was correct, as Sancho has continued to look like a shadow of his former self after a change of scenery and Chelsea fans are now questioning why he was signed.

The German media reported that Borussia Dortmund staff were concerned about Sancho's discipline during his time on the continent and there were off-field concerns during his time in Manchester.

Such reports haven't emerged from Chelsea correspondents this season, but Sancho's history suggests it might be sooner rather than later that he is brought under the spotlight.

Although Sancho seemed to make a pleasing start to life at Chelsea, he hasn't had the impact that Enzo Maresca hoped and his lacklustre display in defeat to Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend was the type of performance that United supporters were tired of watching.
