Manchester United academy notebook: Erik ten Hag gesture to youngster hints at next debut

Manchester United's Under-18s are officially the Premier League North champions.

The U18s have taken their division by storm this season and sealed the title with a 2-1 victory over Wolves thanks to two goals from Gabriele Biancheri. Adam Lawrence has done a wonderful job in his first season in charge and he spoke to the Manchester Evening News this week to reflect on the campaign.

That interview with Lawrence will be released on Tuesday morning. The MEN continues to provide the most extensive coverage of United's academy and here is the latest news from the youth set-up.

The U18s warm welcome

There were brilliant scenes when the U18s were confirmed as league winners against Wolves earlier in the week and they returned to Carrington to celebrate. Some footage of their bus journey back to Manchester was shared on social media and it's fair to say the youngsters enjoyed the drive up the M6 as champions.

The players had a celebratory meal when they arrived at Carrington and captain Finley McAllister made a speech: "I'd like to say a massive thank you on behalf of me and the players to all the staff, everyone that's here. because without you guys it wouldn't be possible.

"A massive thank you to Adam, the manager, who has helped us every single day whether that's on or off the pitch, he's always got time with us and his staff as well. The last few months and the results we've been getting would not be possible without sticking together, helping each other and just being the best of mates day in, day out."
