Manchester trains disrupted due to ANIMALS on railway as passengers say they are 'stuck'

Passengers were warned to expect disruption on some Manchester rail services while animals wandered on the tracks. TransPennine Express said services between Liverpool Lime Street and York were affected this afternoon (August 13).

The animals were on the line between Dewsbury and Brighouse, in West Yorkshire. A number of passengers reported being 'stuck' on services this afternoon while the incident unfolded.

A spokesperson for TransPennine Express tweeted: "Due to animals on the railway between Dewsbury and Brighouse some lines are blocked. Trains running through these stations may be delayed.

"Disruption is expected until 13:45. Your journey may be affected.

"Please check before travel." The line reopened at around 1.15pm.
