Manchester Half Marathon 2025 LIVE as thousands take on mighty 13.1-mile route

The Manchester Half Marathon will take place across Greater Manchester today and will see thousands aim for their personal best.

The huge-scale event will see more than 26,000 participants take on the gruelling 13.1 mile route, which will start and begin in Old Trafford on Sunday morning (October 12). Along the way, the route will venture into the likes of Chorlton, Sale, Hulme and Whalley Range.

There are also expected to be a host of famous faces taking part in the Half today too, including stars from the likes of Love Island, Gladiators and The Traitors. There will even be at least three actors from Coronation Street running the route, including Harriet Bibby, who has played the role of Summer Spellman in the ITV soap since 2020.

Whilst many of those set to face the route will opt for a suitable pair of running shoes, there are also likely to be some more unusual choice of outfits on display too. For example, four members of the Wharfedale Harriers running club will be aiming for Guinness World Record glory by attempting to beat the time for the Fastest Half Marathon in a Four-Person Costume. They'll appropriately be wearing a giant caterpillar outfit between them.

Hailed as the largest half marathon in the North West, the event is expected to raise £1.5 million for charities, with thousands running in support of important charities and causes like Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK and The Christie.

Runners will set off in allocated waves, setting off at ten-minute intervals from 8.55am to 10.48am. Along the 13.1-mile route, there will be thousands of people cheering on participants from the sidelines with a host of encouraging cheers and signs.
