Manchester City 'keen' on Borussia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund's left-back Raphael Guerreiro.

According to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old Portuguese defender is one of a handful of first-team players that City are looking to sign this window. With just three weeks left of the transfer market, Joao Cancelo is currently the only senior left-back in Pep Guardiola's side and the club are looking to bring in reinforcements before the September 1 deadline.

Should City complete a move for Guerreiro, he will join his compatriot Cancelo at the club with both left-backs playing for the Portugal national team. The 28-year-old made 23 appearances in the Bundesliga for Dortmund last season as he scored four goals and provided three assists in the league.

Elsewhere, the Guardian report that City are close to agreeing a deal for the Spanish left-back Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht.

They claim that City will pay a transfer fee of €10million (£8.5million) for the defender who will become a back-up to Cancelo. Whether the 21-year-old will be signed in addition to Guerreiro is still yet to be seen as Guardiola looks to create as much squad depth as possible as they start the new Premier League campaign.

Gomez caught the eye of suitors last season when he was awarded the club’s player of the year award. Since the departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, City have been searching for another left-back, and with just a matter of weeks left in the transfer window, it seems like the options are plentiful for Guardiola's side as they look to get a deal over the line.
