Manchester City injury news and return dates as Pep Guardiola gives John Stones update

Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League with a 5-1 win over Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's side have spent recent weeks trailing Arsenal and Liverpool in a pulsating end to the season but this weekend seized the initiative of playing before both of their title rivals to regain top spot ahead of the final weeks of the campaign.

City took the lead after an own-goal from Luton defender Daiki Hashioka before Mateo Kovacic, Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol sealed an emphatic win at the Etihad. Ross Barkley scored a consolation for Rob Edwards' side.

Here is the latest injury news and updates surrounding Manchester City:

Stones was absent for Saturday's 5-1 win over Luton Town after suffering muscle tightness against Real Madrid in midweek.

Speaking on Saturday after the game, Pep Guardiola said: "(Stones) has some niggles, he is fine. He is not injured. "But he didn't feel comfortable and we didn't want to take some risk. Nathan and Kyle want to be on the bench. Okay, go on the bench."

Expected return date: April 17, Real Madrid (H)
