Manchester Caribbean Carnival 2024: Parade route, line-up and everything you need to know

The streets will be filled with good vibes and vibrant outfits this weekend as Manchester Caribbean Carnival returns for another year.

The annual event, now in its 52nd year, will return to Moss Side and Hulme for the annual parade full of floats, colourful clothes, and joyous energy before once again taking over Alexandra Park.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday (August 10 and 11), the festival has become a staple event in Manchester’s culture calendar and celebrates the rich heritage and diversity of the Caribbean and African diaspora.

This year’s festival will take on a theme of unity, which organisers have said is something that is more prevalent than ever. The festival will kick off on Saturday with an early morning J’ouvert celebration, with the parade then leading to the Moss Side park for a weekend jam-packed with live music and family-friendly entertainment.

The festival will feature performances from the likes of BBC 1XTRA’s Seani B, as well as dance troupes, traditional mas bands, steel pans, and a selection of the best food vendors that Manchester has to offer.

"This year’s Manchester Caribbean Carnival is set to be a monumental celebration," Julia Burke, Chair and Project Manager for the Manchester Carnival Together Committee (CIC), said.

“We are delighted to have Seani B back on the main stage and look forward to a weekend filled with joy, music, dance, and delicious food. The carnival is a symbol of unity, diversity and cultural pride, and we invite everyone to join us in celebrating the vibrant cultures that have shaped our city.”
