Manchester Airport false alarm sees passengers filing outside in their hundreds
A false alarm at Manchester Airport saw hundreds of passengers filing out of arrivals.
It is understood an alarm was pressed by mistake, prompting an evacuation on Thursday afternoon (August 24). Fire crews were called to the scene.
Pictures shared with the Manchester Evening News taken outside Terminal 2 Arrivals show huge numbers of passengers outside the main doors with their luggage, with fire engines seen parked up in the distance.

It has now been confirmed that shortly afterwards, the incident was deemed to have been accidental and passengers were allowed back inside safely.
Airport staff could be seen talking to groups of passengers with fire crews at the scene. One passenger told the M.E.N that 'hundreds' of people had been evacuated and that two fire engines attended.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service have also been contacted for a comment.
