Manager admits Wolves bid 'affected' striker ahead of deadline day transfer

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison has claimed Wolverhampton Wanderers' bid to sign Kieffer Moore 'affected' the striker.

Wales international Moore, 29, was one of three players Wolves tried to sign on a frantic deadline day in August, along with Lille midfielder Renato Sanches and Marseille utility man Boubacar Kamara.

Cardiff rejected an offer below their £12million valuation of Moore and Mick McCarthy - who was the Bluebirds' manager at the time - criticised Wolves' approach.

Wolves never planned to reignite a move for Moore in January. The striker has only managed five goals in 22 Championship appearances this term having been unable to replicate his stunning form from last season.

Promotion contenders Bournemouth decided to add Moore to their squad yesterday in a transfer reportedly worth up to £5m - a deal Cardiff are happy with due to the striker's drop off in 2021/22.

When asked if missing out on a move to the Premier League might have affected the striker, Morison told WalesOnline: "100 percent. 100 percent. Human nature takes over.

"You think you’re at it, you think you’re doing what you did last year. It was a tough run of games in terms of results, so everything plays its part.

"That uncertainty… everyone likes certainty and likes clarity in life. That uncertainty certainly affected his performances.

"From his point of view, he’s got what he wanted, Bournemouth have got what they wanted and we got what we asked for."
