Management pair Micheal Everitt and Roland Edge sacked by Isthmian Premier Folkestone Invicta

Folkestone Invicta have parted company with joint managers Micheal Everitt and Roland Edge.

The pair leave with the team sitting 11th in Isthmian Premier, their final game in charge coming on Tuesday night with a disappointing home draw against next-to-bottom Haringey Borough.

That result came after a morale-boosting weekend win over high-flyers Billericay Town, which Everitt said this week was a sign of their competitiveness.

But the Folkestone board have decided to look for a new management team.

A club statement from Josh Healey, on behalf of the club’s directors, said: “Folkestone Invicta Football Club would like to announce that first-team managers Micheal Everitt and Roland Edge have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

“The decision to part company with Micheal and Roland hasn’t been an easy one to make.

“Stepping in late last year and taking charge of the team amidst a period of uncertainty, they demonstrated remarkable dedication despite limited resources.

“We greatly appreciate both of their efforts and unwavering commitment throughout their time at FIFC, and as massive advocates of the club, it goes without saying that they depart with the best wishes of everybody here, for their future managerial careers.

“The search now begins for new management to take the team forward, and future developments will be communicated in due course.”

Folkestone are away at Dulwich Hamlet this Saturday.

It was October 2022 when legendary Folkestone boss Neil Cugley stepped down after 25 seasons in charge, which led to his assistant Edge and player-coach Everitt taking over the team.

They led Folkestone to a 12th place finish last season.
