Man who died after 'wall collapses' at house in workplace accident is named

A man who died following reports of a wall collapsing at a house in south Manchester has been named as Jalil Khan.

Mr Khan was believed to have been involved in a 'workplace accident' at a terraced house on Lloyd Street South in Fallowfield. Emergency services, including police, fire crews and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene at around 2.50pm last Saturday (September 16) but he sadly died.

The Health and Safety Executive is now investigating the incident. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police today confirmed that no arrests had been made.

Mr Khan was aged in his 40s. A spokesperson for Manchester Coroners' Court confirmed a referral in relation to his death had been received.

A HSE spokesperson previously said: “We are liaising with the police and we are making initial inquiries to make sure it is an incident that we have the remit to investigate.”

Following the fatal incident, neighbours told of hearing a man knocking on doors and shouting for help, claiming that somebody had been hurt.
