Man who described owning own craft brewery as 'pipe dream' to open Salford taproom and kitchen

When Dan Wright lost his job during the Coronavirus pandemic, he could have never imagined that just three years later he would be putting the final touches on his very own taproom in Salford.

After being made redundant in 2020, he and his wife Natalie decided to turn their love of craft beer into a business and converted their garage into a mini brewery. Just six months later, they were granted a licence from Salford council to sell alcohol online from their home in Worsley - and Hideaway Brewing Co was born.

Fast forward to today and Dan is standing inside a warehouse on Kansas Avenue in Salford just a short walk from MediaCity and fellow brewers Marble Beers and Seven Bro7hers, adding a final lick of paint before punters step through the doors of his brand new brewery and taproom next weekend.

“It was always part of the plan as most breweries need a taproom to show off what they’re doing but if we think back to 2020 the idea was very much more of a proof of concept,” he tells the Manchester Evening News. The brewery that started in my garage was able to do 25 litres a batch, but in order to make any money in brewing you’ve got to upscale so we’re now making 1200 litres a batch - it’s now a very different kettle of fish.”

While the taproom will be ready to visit from next Friday, the brewery has been up and running for a few months, pumping out mostly European and American styles of beer like Kansas, their core American pale, Hellgate, a West Coast IPA and Rush, their California Common.
