Inside National Trust's romantic £150 a night holiday lodge where Pride and Prejudice was filmed

Fans of the BBC's mini-series version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice could enjoy their very own Regency romance with a short stay at the Lyme Estate in Stockport.

Used as the backdrop for the adaptation of the famous Jane Austin novel of manners, guests can stay in the former gamekeeper's cottage known as Lyme East House, just a short walk from the grand manor house that many will recognise as Mr Darcy's 'Pemberley' home.

The Lyme East Lodge is available to rent for short breaks via The National Trust, with two-night stays costing £315 in September.

Built back in 1904, the gorgeous period cottage is located on the eastern side of the 1,400-acre historic deer park. It overlooks the moorland plateau of Kinder Scout and the historic cage banqueting tower, which was once used as a 16th-century hunting lodge.

The two-bedroom Edwardian cottage offers scenic views out across vast panoramas of green countryside and roaming red deer and on the inside guests will find a wealth of period features at every turn.

Enjoy the lavish interiors, test your skills on the piano, read a book in the library, or take the children to dress up on the stage. After all that exploring, take the weight off your feet, relax with a speciality coffee and indulge in a cake in the Timber Yard Coffee Shop, or take time out for lunch in the restaurant.

Lazy afternoons are for walks around the deer park to catch a glimpse of the deer that originated in medieval times. Amatuear horticulturalists can revel in the delights of the rose garden, the ravine garden and the herbaceous borders, and guests are always welcome to reenact a certain famous scene
