Man Utd vs Celtic Legends LIVE as Hoops roll back the years with Samaras, Hooper and Vennegoor of Hesselink up front

It may be the international week that everyone could do without but there's still a domestic football fix for those who need one. Well, sort of anyway.

When the first teams are away, the legends will play, and that's exactly what's happening at Old Trafford this afternoon as the great and good of Man Utd take on their Celtic counterparts.

The two behemoths have faced each other fairly regularly over the years, be it in well-attended testimonials or Champions League showdowns under the lights both north and south of the border.

Now the fan favourites will do battle with some big names on both sides putting the boots on once again.

Wayne Rooney is the headline act for United, while Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is literally the biggest name on show in either squad.

Paul Lambert takes charge of the Hoops, assisted by former teammates Tom Boyd and Tosh McKinlay.

And it's United's former Captain Marvel Bryan Robson in the opposing dugout, backed up by Andy 'Andrew' Cole.

Record Sport will have all the action right here on the LIVE blog.

Wayne Rooney recently admitted that Celtic were a club that he wishes he played for during his career and has been speaking about that again today.

He told Celtic TV:

It's always been a team I've always followed and obviously wanting to win.

So, yeah, unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity.

I would have liked to at some point try and play for Celtic, but it didn't work out, didn't have that chance.

So, yeah, it's always a club I always look out for and want to do well.

Speaking to Celtic TV when he was given the top, he said:

I don't know whether that'll fit me now! But thank you very much, I appreciate it.
